k just a little excited about that lol well tonight i have family comin over (or if you're reading this from the e-mail it was yesterday) and all i'll be gettin is cards cuz i got my presents all throughout the summer. i got:
DVD of In My Father's Den a bedspread a rug (the latter two for my new room and they're oober cute) two pairs of shoes some clothes apparently my going to see a movie last night was a present... this headset thing that i use to talk w/ ppl over the internet
so all in all it has been a good birthday. the movie i went to see last night was Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The movie is really funny, but I don't HAVE to see it again.
yesterday was a rather busy day actually. i woke up at 8 and bailee came over at 10. then we went up to her house and watched Cruel Intentions which was really good. then we hung out for a bit before calling a friend and going over to a different friend's house. tim, bailee, and i hung out on nate's back porch while he was in the shower lol. his brother's a little cutie tho. then we just hung around nate's house for a few hours and that was great fun. played some frisbee, goofed off in his garage. then bailee, nate, and i (tim had to work) went back to bailee's house and hung out for like an hour. then nate and i went home and i had supper before going back up to bailee's house. we walked to Thelen park and hung out with tim and nate before we went to the movie.
good times.

| Day 5 in NYC
i'm aware that i havent updated in a while with my trip but idc.
on this particular day we went to Union Station to purchase tickets for the
TourMobile. i ADORE union station. we went there and i actually proved myself
useful when i led my family around and to the tourmobile ticket booth thing. we
got the tickets and waited for the bus which was 20 minutes late as always lol.
when we got on the bus, our commentator had a mix of a new
york and a boston
accent and it was REALLY annoying!!!
anyway we didn't get off of the bus until we got to Arlington
which didn't take that long bcuz most of the stops were cut off of our tour
becuz of road construction. so we went to Arlington
and I'm not exactly a fan of graves and such so my parents got off at the first
stop which was the Kennedy gravesite and my little sister and I stayed on the
tour until the end. then we waited for my parents and i read my book. after my
parents got back, my mom and little sister went to the women's museum or
something like that and i read my book while my dad and i waited.
then we went back to union station for lunch. i wanted to go to the National
Archives building but my mom didnt hear me and my dad wasnt listening. my mom
and i shared cheese fries for lunch and they were REALLY good. after that my
dad went to the postal museum and my mom, sis, and i just shopped around union
station. we first went into this dvd/cd shop and got candy (of all things lol)
then we went to claire's and my little sister got friendship necklaces and i
had to get a set for bailee and i as well becuz they had ducks on them lol
having finished my book at the restaurant we ate at for lunch, i wanted to get
a new one so we headed over to the book shop that was there and it was REALLY
cool!!! being a Pride & Prejudice freak, i immediately looked to get my own
copy of the book, but what i found was even better. there was a published
continuation and a published darcy POV. Darcy's Story, which was
obviously the darcy POV, was REALLY good!!! Pemberley, the continuation,
sucked. if you like P&P and want to read a continuation, don't read that
one. it was so unreal and so not like Jane Austen. it kept me busy on the car
ride home, however.
that brings us to:
Day 6 in NYC
well it was travel day and we were in the car with a few breaks until we got to
Gettysburg. we stopped there and had a look
around the museum which was really cool. then we went out into the graveyard
(graves just don't appeal to me) so when we started heading back, I went ahead
of everyone else and looked at a memorial to Lincoln's Gettysburg address (for
those of you who don't know, that's the one that starts with "Four score
and seven years ago") and I read that and that was cool. then we were once
again on our way home. we made it all the way back to Ohio (woohoo! *says
unenthusiastically*)
once we got back in WI the next day, we got just north of Milwaukee and I took over
the wheel for 2 and a half hours. normally it wouldn't take that long to get
home, however, we hit REALLY bad traffic. we were stuck there for almost an
hour and it sucked. i got bitched at by my dad so much and it was so bad that i
started crying and i refused to let my dad know that i was crying, so i didn't
wipe my eyes that were hidden behind my shades. thank god he wasn't in the
front seat or i swear i woulda popped him one.
anyway its over and done and im oober glad to be home

| Day 4 in NYC
ok so we're not in NYC anymore but i really dont care
we woke up early that morning and drove all the way to maryland where we went to our hotel and dropped our stuff off and headed to the metro station to get into DC. well katie couldnt find the metro station and i was fed up with her not knowing where the hell we were going so i called dad. i was asking him for directions and such and all the while katie's trying to talk to me as well and i was getting so pissed off by it. she was driving me crazy and eventually i just held up one finger to tell her to shut up. she NEVER wants help from dad, and i thought I was stubborn!
so we finally got to the metro station because my father's directions did, evidentally, help us. once we got there we got on the train to DC and got at the right stop. then the challenge was to find my parents. i called them once we got out of the station only to find out that we had gotten out at the wrong escalator. apparently there are many for L'Enfant station. so we get out on the street and im on the phone with my mom trying to figure out which way we're going. i listened to the directions a worker at the station gave me: go down the steps and take a right, get to 7th and take a left. so i took a left and 7th and started to look for my parents. that's when i called my mom.
so while i'm on the phone with her katie's still talking in my ear saying "we went the wrong way. jacqui, hun, we're going the wrong way. dad was wrong. we need to go this way..." and eventually im just like "katie, shut up!" she's like "calm down" and im like "well im the phone and i cant hear a damn thing they're saying with you talking to me!" it was the first time i was EVER annoyed with katie. im over it now, but if she ever does again i may not be able to control myself.
we decided to go on a tour of the capital and i was OOBER excited. i luved the capitol the first time i saw it, and i luved it the second time i saw it, but my first tour was better. i think you pay more to be led around by a staff member instead of a tour guide. in that event, your tour groups are only your party instead of multiple, and i think you get to see more. even so, it was fabulous and i loved it.
after that we went and saw the botanical gardens and i dont really know how they were i was reading my book the entire time lol. i did see some plants, though, and the ones i did see were cool. it was WAY too hot in there tho...well mainly humid, but still.
then we went back on the metro and took the 12 stops back to our original station, and thats where we parted with gio and katie. we took a shuttle van home, and (after being scolded by my father for a lousy 6 minute phone call with tim) we went out to eat. later i sat by the pool and read my book while my sister swam. i'll update about today when i get back. tomorrow is travel day and we might get to see the chocolate factory AND gettysburg (both of which would so rock!)
<3 Jax
PS. btw tim, dont worry about the phone call. my dad's dumb like that. he was all worried about minutes and stuff, but i dont call many ppl on my cell 'cept my mom and that's free, and not many ppl call me on my cell either 'cept my mom. it was kinda funny tho cuz while my dad was yippin at me about minutes, my phone started ringing cuz bailee called lol it was great.
PPS. OMFG! i almost forgot. when we had the tour of the capitol, we went into the original supreme court room thing with the picture of george washington, and i was one of the first people out. i was wearing my footloose shirt and the tour guide starts reading my shirt, and i know he's gonna say something to me. i thought he was gonna comment on the shirt, but what i honestly did not expect him to say was, "That must be Hawaiian." he was talking about Kaukauna which is on the front of my shirt. i look at my mom and we both start busting out laughing. im like "Wisconsin" and he looks all embarrassed and i just said, "Don't worry. You're not the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last." I've gotten the Hawaiian comment online b4, but never in person. it was brilliant lol. i told him that he made my day with that comment. | | |
| Day 3 in NYC
since deprived of a computer yesterday i'll be making two updates today
alrighty so on our third day in NYC we went back to the college where i made my previous two updates and hung around there for about 3 hours while katie was teaching. we went back to her room and met some of her students who thought i looked really young for my age which made me laugh because back home ppl say i look two years older.
after that we went to the empire state building and that was phenominal. the view was so fantastic and i got a few postcards that i sent to choice people. i would've sent them to other ppl as well, but i only had enough cash for five, and two of those were my sisters. so if you didnt get one, its not that i wasnt thinking of you, its just that i had other people to think about who've sent me postcards from places they've visited and they were in dire need of payback.
after the ESB, we went out to eat and im gonna post a pic of where we ate in one of my entries after i get home and you'll have to guess what restaurant it is. then we headed over to broadway and got some discount tickets for Hairspray. i was sad that Spamalot didn't make the list, but Hairspray made up for it.
After we got the tickets we had like a 3 hour wait til the show so we went to see the movie "The Barnyard" and it was pretty ok. it was funny and it was sad and stuff, and it was cute, but it was totally predictable. i guessed pretty much everything that would happen, and i was right. so...yeah
the movie theater was REALLY cool though. once we purchased our tickets right inside the front doors we went up two escalators to get to the consession stands and they had snow-caps!!! omg i was so thrilled! yes ik that i can get snow-caps at family video, but to see them at a movie theater again just made my day. then there was another floor that led to more auditoriums, and i thought that was so cool.
when the movie was done we walked quickly down broadway to get to the building where Hairspray was playing. There was quite a line, but we got in there at a good time because we only had to wait about 10 minutes before the show started. OMFG! this was one of the best shows I have seen in my life. Like it ranks up there with Wicked!. It was so effing hysterical and i fell in love with the male lead character (to those of you who know my hollywood obsession at present, no i have not yet been swayed from MM; he's still my number one). this show is so fantastic. if any of you have the opportunity to go see it, take it! i cant wait for the movie to come out.
then we went back to the car and drove home where we all fell asleep almost immediately.
